Privacy Policy
This page explains what Lanka Monitor collects about visitors. We keep it to the minimum needed to run and secure the site.
Server logs
Like every website, our web server records each request: the visitor's IP address, the page requested, the time, the referring page and the browser type. We use these logs to see how many people visit and which pages they read, to understand roughly where visitors come from (country level), and to detect abuse. Logs are kept for a limited period and are visible only to site administrators. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not set analytics cookies.
Comments and messages
If you post a comment, the name you type and your comment are stored and, once approved, shown publicly. Messages sent through the contact box are stored in a private inbox. We also store a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address with each comment or message, only to limit spam. Please don't include personal contact details in comments: they are public.
Third parties
News headlines link to external publishers, who have their own privacy practices. Weather data is fetched by our server, not your browser, so visiting this site does not send your details to the weather provider.
Your choices
To ask for a comment or message of yours to be removed, use the contact box and describe which one.
